Coaching Achievements in the NBA

After retiring as a player, Brooks transitioned into coaching, joining the staff at several NBA teams, including the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings, in assistant roles. In 2008, he joined the Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly Seattle SuperSonics) as an assistant coach. On April 22, 2009, he was officially named the head coach of the team, becoming the franchise’s 15th head coach.

Under Brooks’ leadership, the Thunder became one of the NBA’s most competitive teams. Over the course of his head coaching tenure, he amassed a regular season record of 338 wins and 207 losses, with a win-loss percentage of .620. He was honored as the NBA Coach of the Year in 2010 and served as head coach for the NBA All-Star Game in both 2012 and 2014.

Personal Life and Family

Scott Brooks has been in a long-standing marriage with his high school sweetheart, Sherry Silvey. The couple first met while attending East Union High School and were married in 1993 in Pebble Beach, California. Following their wedding, they traveled to Europe for their honeymoon. Upon returning, Brooks participated in the celebration of the Houston Rockets' 1994 NBA Championship.

The Brooks family includes a son, Chance, and a daughter, Lexi. Known for his strong family values, Brooks often expresses his connection to them symbolically. He wears three bracelets, each representing a member of his immediate family—one for his wife, one for his son, and one for his daughter.
