Her grandmother of maternal side brought her up. Her grandmother wished to make her professor but her loved for dancing and acting make her actress.

Scottie grew up in Virginia where she attended collegiate school and did her graduation. From her early age she loved dancing. After graduation she stopped her education for a year and joined Richmond Ballet. In 2005 she attended Harvard University where she picked up Literature and performing studies as majoring subject. She performed in many film: Skyline, 37, Lake Effect and Somnia were some of them. In 2008 Thomson appeared in musical video “You can’t count on me”
