Stephen Bishop is an American singer, songwriter, actor, musician and guitarist. He was born on November 14, 1951 in San Diego California. His father owned an Insurance Company. He attended Will C. Crawford High School. He was originally a clarinetist and hoped to become a history teacher. But he was inspired by The Beattles and that turned pages for him. He persuaded his brother to buy him a guitar. He formed his first band in 1967 named as the Weeds which was a British Invasion-styled band. The Weeds used to play at local fraternity parties. The Weeds won 2nd place at the Claremont Battle of the Bands. Then he moved to Los-Angeles to fulfil his destiny. He moved around the streets of Los Angeles with his acoustic guitar playing songs for various publishers where he was rejected for nearly eight years. Then he landed a $50 per week a job at E.H.Morris Publishing.
Later, Art Garfunkel heard a few of his new songs through a friend. Stephen recorded platinum Album, Breakaway with Art Garfunkel. He secured a recording contract with ABC records in 1976. His first album, Careless consisted of his two biggest hits. He went on to No.22 on Billboards singles chart after his single “Save it for a Rainy Day”. Careless and Bish (released in 1978) went to gold. His composition “Separate Lives” was nominated for Academy award for Best Original song. He released “Bowling in Paris” in 1989.
He has appeared in several movies made by motion pictures. Bishop was also a musical guest of Saturday Night Live on March 11, 1978. He sang the hit theme "It Might Be You," from the movie, "Tootsie," as well as writing and/or singing 13 other films. He also appeared as the “Charming Guitar Player” in Animal House. Then he appeared in “The Blue Brothers” as a State Trooper. During the last year he performed at the Library of Congress and at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York for a U.N. Event.

Apart from this, he has appeared in the different television series Lost, Girlfriends, The Game, the independent film Americanese, The Rundown with The Rock and Moneyball.
