Tom Ellis

Ellis spent much of his childhood in Sheffield, England, where he attended High Storrs School. During his school years, he was musically inclined and played the French horn in the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra. He later pursued acting and enrolled at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly known as the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Studies.

Early Acting Career

Tom Ellis began gaining recognition with various roles in British television. He played Gary Preston in the BBC One romantic comedy series Miranda, opposite comedian Miranda Hart. He also appeared as Justyn in the Channel 4 series No Angels and portrayed Thomas Milligan in the popular sci-fi series Doctor Who in its 2007 finale, "Last of the Time Lords." Additionally, he appeared as Detective Inspector Bland in an episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Television Roles and International Recognition

In 2009, Ellis participated in the ITV drama Monday Monday, where he starred alongside Fay Ripley. He later led the USA Network series Rush (2014), playing Dr. William Rush, a high-profile Los Angeles physician who caters to the elite while dealing with personal issues.

Though he gained significant traction in the UK, Ellis’s global prominence grew with his role as Lucifer Morningstar in the Fox and later Netflix series Lucifer. His portrayal of the charming yet tormented devil earned him widespread acclaim, firmly establishing him as a transatlantic television figure.

Personal Life and Family

Tom Ellis has three daughters. He had his first child in 2005 with actress Estelle Morgan. In 2006, he married English actress Tamzin Outhwaite. The couple had two daughters together before announcing their divorce in 2014. Despite their separation, Ellis remains active in co-parenting his children.

As of recent public reports, Tom Ellis is married to screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer. The couple tied the knot in 2019 and reside in the United States.
