Early Career and Initial Struggles

Hart began her career writing and performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she honed her skills in comedy writing and stage performance. During this period, she appeared in several British sitcoms, including Hyperdrive and Not Going Out. While these roles provided valuable experience, they did not significantly boost her public profile.

Breakthrough with 'Miranda'

Hart achieved widespread recognition with her semi-autobiographical sitcom Miranda, which evolved from her earlier BBC Radio 2 comedy show Miranda Hart's Joke Shop. The television adaptation, which aired from 2009 to 2015, received critical acclaim and a loyal fan following. Its candid humor, physical comedy, and self-deprecating wit showcased Hart's unique comedic voice and cemented her as a leading figure in British comedy.

Expansion into Film and Television

As her popularity grew, Hart appeared in additional television shows such as French and Saunders, Absolutely Fabulous, Nighty Night, and a New Year special of The Vicar of Dibley. Although many of these roles were brief, they demonstrated her versatility as a performer.

One of her most notable acting roles came in 2015 when she played Nancy B. Artingstall in the Hollywood action-comedy film Spy, alongside Melissa McCarthy. Her performance was well-received and marked her successful transition to international cinema. Her workload increased significantly following this project, which led to her stepping back from the BBC drama Call the Midwife, where she played the beloved character Chummy Browne.
