Adkins got married twice. He has two daughters, Tarah and Sarah, with his first wife, Barbara Lewis, and another three daughters, Mackenzie, Brianna, and Trinity, with his third wife, Rhonda Forlaw. In 2014, Rhonda filed for a divorce from her husband. The reason for the separation was stated as just irreconcilable differences, even if there are rumors saying that Adkins’ issues with alcohol might have been the reason for his 17 years long marriage to end. Rhonda asked for the custody of their daughters, and also for child support payment. She wanted even to be the beneficiary of his life insurance policy. There is another rumor saying that Adkins was cheating on Rhonda with some secret “girlfriend”, and that this was the reason that led to the separation. Anyway, those are just rumors, and the other details about this extramarital affair haven’t been proved. 

A source very close to Rhonda stated that Rhonda suspected that Trace had an extramarital relationship. Confronted by his way on this topic during the counseling, Adkins denied everything. She was reluctant, and she kept asking him about his secret relationship. Finally, one day, he told her everything she wished to know. It has been later revealed that Adkins used to brag to his friends about the women he had a relationship with, while he was still married to Rhonda. Rhonda never commented on this rumor, and Adkins also did not confirm nor deny it. Thus, the real reason for the separation is still not known, but is known that Rhonda filed for a 20 million dollars separation. 

Adkins tried to reconcile with his wife, and he begged for forgiveness. However, Rhonda was reluctant. Adkins told her that he had a relationship with Victoria Pratt, an actress, and even Rhonda knew that the relationship was completely over. Victoria also stated on her Twitter that she gave Trace, her boyfriend, a sponge bath. When Rhonda asked him about Victoria, it was said that he constantly talked about her and his feelings for her. This humiliated Rhonda and she left him with her children. We have no information about Adkins having any relationship with Victoria after his divorce from Rhonda. 

Adkins has always had problems with an alcohol addiction. In 2001, after he got injured in a tractor accident, Adkins entered a 28-days alcohol rehabilitation program in Nashville. He lost his fight with the addiction and his demons, and he tried again to get rid of his burden in 2014, when he checked again into rehabilitation for alcoholism after having an altercation on a cruise ship.
