Trina Braxton was born on December 3, 1974, in Severn, Maryland. She is an American actress, singer, and television personality, best known for her appearances on reality television. Her father, Michael Braxton Sr., was a Methodist pastor and also worked for a power company. Her mother, Evelyn Braxton (née Jackson), is a former opera singer, cosmetologist, and pastor. Trina has five siblings—one brother and four sisters—including Toni Braxton, the acclaimed R&B singer. Raised in a strict religious household, Trina began her musical journey singing in the church choir alongside her siblings.
In 1989, the Braxton sisters signed their first record deal with Arista Records. The group released their debut single “Good Life” in 1990, which marked their first and only release as a five-member band. Due to the significant age differences among the sisters, the label faced challenges marketing the group. Subsequently, Toni Braxton was signed as a solo artist by LaFace Records, making her the first among them to launch an individual career. During Toni’s U.S. tour, the remaining sisters—including Trina—supported her as backup singers.
Trina and two of her sisters—Towanda and Traci—reformed as The Braxtons and released the 1996 album “So Many Ways.” The album reached number 26 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 1997, they released the single “Only Love” from the same album. The group later disbanded in 1998 when one member decided to pursue a solo career, effectively ending their work together as The Braxtons.
Trina explored acting in the early 2000s, appearing as Tracy Stevens in Tyler Perry’s play “Meet the Browns” in 2004. She also co-starred in the independent film “Jail Party.” In 2009, she joined the wedding band Simply Irresistible, showcasing her versatility as a live performer.
