Tyler Lee Hoechlin was born on September 11, 1987, in Corona, California, United States. He is of Caucasian descent and stands approximately 1.83 meters tall. He is the son of Lori and Don Hoechlin and has three siblings: two brothers, Tanner and Travis, and a sister named Carrie.

Early Passion for Baseball

Tyler Hoechlin developed a deep interest in baseball at a young age, starting to play competitively at just seven years old. His talent on the field earned him a spot as an infielder at Arizona State University. He later transferred and played for the University of California, Irvine, as part of the UC Irvine Anteaters baseball team, before deciding to pursue his acting career full-time.

Acting Career Highlights

Hoechlin began acting at the age of nine. His breakout role came early, portraying Michael Sullivan Jr. opposite Tom Hanks in the acclaimed film Road to Perdition (2002). His performance earned critical praise and led to his casting as Martin Brewer in the long-running television series 7th Heaven.

In 2004, Hoechlin received a nomination for Breakout Male Star at the Teen Choice Awards. He later appeared in several film and television projects including Grizzly Rage, directed by David DeCoteau, and the thriller Solstice (2008). He also made a guest appearance in the second season of the popular series Castle and had a supporting role opposite Owen Wilson in the 2011 comedy Hall Pass.

Hoechlin gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Derek Hale in the MTV supernatural drama series Teen Wolf. His performance in the series earned him a strong following and helped him secure the number 3 spot on BuddyTV’s 2011 list of “TV's Sexiest Men.” He later joined the cast of the Fifty Shades film franchise with a role in Fifty Shades Freed (2018), not Fifty Shades Darker as previously stated.

In 2003, he won both the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor and the Young Artist Award for his role in Road to Perdition.
