He was recruited by The Source, a Hip Hop magazine after being discovered by Beckford in the New York city.  Afterwards, he was recruited to work for Ralph Lauren as their front model for the company male sportswear of Polo line. In 2003, he was in the reality game show of ABC network: I am Celebrity Get Me out of here. He supported National Campaign Respect and this is was a campaign against the domestic violence where he recorded a voice saying that there is a need to respect each other.

Tyson Beckford was a co-host of the contest Make Me a Supermodel on the Bravo Television Channel.  The other host was Niki Taylor.  He was a judge and a mentor of the contestant for the first version of Make Me a Supermodel of Australia. In 2005, Tyson Beckford got injured in the accident and he was able to get away of his car before it caught fire, he says that this accident made an impact on his spiritual life.  He lives in the New Jersey community in the West New York.

He said that being the only black American in the cast makes him feel as if he was out of place. However, despite this, he was able to model for the company for five years and he succeeded. At the same time, he featured on most covers of all important fashion magazines.  He featured in the 50 most beautiful people because of his aesthetic eyes from his Chinese mother, full lips, high cheekbones and brown skin. His fame led him to be a television celebrity. He had also some small and big roles in different movies.
