Valon Behrami

Early Life and Background

Valon Behrami was born in 1985 in Titova Mitrovica, then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He is of Albanian descent. His parents, Halime, a former secretary, and Ragip, a manager at a plastics company, both lost their jobs when Behrami was five years old. As a result, the family relocated to Switzerland, settling in the village of Stabio in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. According to his mother, Valon was an energetic child who constantly ran around and rarely sat still—traits that foreshadowed his future athletic career.
