Walter Cryan Biography

Walter Cryan was born in 1932 and has had experience in the news reporting and new anchor fields of work in the state of Rhode Island. He was a reporter for channels 12 and 6 for over 50 years total. Cryan graduated Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications in the 1950’s, getting a job at the WARA radio station in Rhode Island. He ended up joining WPRO in 1965. Soon before getting the job at WPRO he started being the voice of the announcer for the Foxboro racetrack in 1963, a career that lasted him until 1985. In his news anchor field, he became lead newsreader for WPRI in 1965, and often paired up with other radio personalities such as Mike Gorman, Janice Glynn and Karen Adams. Walter retired in 2000 at the age of 68, although he still did television work as an anchor for WLNE television network. He has had nine kids and lives with his wife Ruth in Massachusetts.
