Early Life and Education

Zoe Ventoura was born in 1981 in Western Australia and is of Greek descent. She attended Penrhos College in Perth for her early education. Coming from a creative family, her mother was a dancer and choreographer who eventually became the director of a dance company in Canberra, while her father was a bass player. Ventoura was trained at the Lynette Sheldon Actors Studio in Sydney. After completing high school, she relocated to Melbourne to study at the Victorian College of the Arts' School of Dance, where she further developed her performance skills. Initially involved in musical theatre, she later transitioned to a full-time acting career.

Career Beginnings and Breakthrough

Ventoura made her television debut as a dancer in the Australian drama series Sweat, which focused on students attending a sports school. In 2005, she appeared in a few episodes of the series Last Man Standing. The following year, she made her film debut in the horror movie See No Evil, playing the role of an eyeless woman. Her early work gradually led to more substantial roles in both television and film.

Packed to the Rafters and Recognition

One of Ventoura’s most prominent roles came when she portrayed Melissa Rafter in the popular drama series Packed to the Rafters. Her performance brought widespread recognition, and the episode featuring her character’s on-screen death became one of the highest-rated episodes in the series. This marked a pivotal point in the establishment of her presence in Australian television.

Further Television and Film Roles

Following her success in Packed to the Rafters, Ventoura appeared in several projects, including the period drama Wild Boys, the television film Fatal Honeymoon, and the drama Knockin’ on Doors. Additionally, she was part of the SBS comedy series Kick, where she earned two Logie nominations for Most Popular New Talent.

Ventoura has featured in several short films, including An Unfinished Romance and Stay Awake. Her more recent work includes appearing as the Mayor’s wife in the international blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, as well as a role in the sci-fi thriller SFv1 (also known as Occupation: Rainfall), directed by Shane Abbess.
