Family Background

Born in 1986, Abby Huntsman is an American citizen who grew up in a politically active family. Her father, Jon Huntsman Jr., is a well-known Republican figure and was a candidate in the 2012 U.S. presidential election. He has also served in several key governmental roles, including as U.S. Ambassador to China and later to Russia. During his presidential campaign, Abby, along with her sisters Liddy and Mary Anne, played an active role, with Abby serving as a media advisor. She often credits her father’s moral support as instrumental in helping her pursue her professional ambitions.

Due to her father's diplomatic assignments, Abby spent much of her childhood in various Asian countries. An academically strong student from a young age, she stood out for her sharp analytical and reasoning skills. She went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008, where she met her future husband, Jeffrey Livingston. Married the same year, Abby has since maintained a relatively low personal profile, choosing to keep her family life, particularly her husband, separate from the political spotlight.

Career in Journalism

Abby Huntsman aspired to become a journalist from an early age. She landed her first industry opportunity working behind the scenes at "Good Morning America" at the age of 16. Although she initially found the experience unsatisfying, an internship under veteran journalist Diane Sawyer proved transformative. Inspired by Sawyer’s professionalism and delivery, Abby reaffirmed her desire to pursue journalism as a career.

She gained industry experience at HuffPost Live, the Huffington Post’s streaming news platform, and made frequent appearances on CNN as a political commentator. In 2013, she joined MSNBC as a co-host of the news and commentary program The Cycle. Despite being the daughter of a Republican politician, Abby emphasized early in her career that her professional choices stem from personal passion, not political legacy. After The Cycle ended in 2015, she transitioned to the Fox News Channel, where she served as a general assignment reporter and later as a co-host on Fox & Friends Weekend.
