Adrian George Zmed was born on March 14, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is an American actor, singer, and television personality. He is the youngest of three brothers. His parents were George Zmed, a Romanian Orthodox priest born in Romania as George Zmed-Smith, and Persida Zmed (née Golub). Although his family has Romanian roots and spent time in Romania, Adrian was born and raised primarily in the U.S.
Zmed began his early education in the United States. He attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago, where he initially pursued athletics. However, after suffering a serious leg injury during a football game, he turned to the performing arts. His first acting role was in a school production of Guys and Dolls, which sparked his interest in theatre.
Following his graduation from Lane Tech, Zmed attended the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He later studied voice at the Chicago Conservatory of Music to develop his singing talent.
