Born on January 28, 1984, Andre Iguodala is a 32-year-old American basketball player who currently plays for the golden state warriors in NBA. Iguodala did his schooling from the Lanphier High School which is situated in Springfield, Illinois. Later, he went on to attend the University of Arizona for his higher studies. Andre Iguodala is the son of Leonard Shanklin and Linda Shanklin. He also has an elder brother named Frank Iguodala in his family.His father is of Nigerian origin while his mother is African- American. While growing up Andre was very attracted to playing basketball and he looked up to Michael Jordon as his favourite player. Iguodala was very good athletically as well as academically during his high school days. He was the Student-Athlete of the Week for States Journal many times. He was also the part of the National Honor Roll and also won All-Conference Academic Honor. In his senior year, he took his basketball team to the finals at the Illinois High School Association Class A state tournament.
In the year 2004, he was picked by Philadelphia 76ers in the 2004 NBA draft. During his first season with Philadelphia, he became the only newcomer to make a triple-double in that season. He also received the All- Rookie First Team in that season. During the 2007 season, he led his team to win 22 out of the 29 games and also helped them secure a spot in the playoffs. He also went on to sign a six-year contract with the team. During the 2008 season Maurice Cheeks was succeeded by Tony DiLeo as the coach of the team and under his guidance, the team’s performance improved.
In the year 2009, the coach of the team was again changed to Eddie Jordan, but the team couldn’t perform well during this season. In the 2010 season, the coach was again replaced and this time, Doug Collins took the post. Though the season started with disappointment, but at the end of the season, Philadelphia became one of the best teams. Andre also suffered an injury during this season which resulted in very low stats. During the 2011 season, he was picked as a reserve for the All-Star Game. He played for Philadelphia 76ers till 2012, ending his stay at the club by joining Denver Nuggets. In the year 2013, however, he was again transferred to Golden state where he became a reserve for the team but later came back strongly to capturing the Most Valuable Player award in the finals.
He is closely associated with many organizations and has also established several fundraising organizations like Andre Iguodala Disaster Relief Fund and Andre Iguodala Youth Foundation. Talking about his family life, he got married to his long-time girlfriend Christina Gutierrez in the year 2015.
