Born on February 25, 1973, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, US to Nancy Smith (former professional golfer)and Anson Adam Mount II (one of the original contributing editor of the Playboy magazine), Anson is a theatre turned on-screen actor. Impressively, Anson is holds impressive dual degree, BA from the University of South and MFA from Columbia University.

Acting since his college days, Anson begin auditioning for roles after his  graduation and the rest is history.

Moreover, Anson is inspired by his single mother who courageously took care of him and his siblings after Anson senior died when Anson was just 13. Anson says he is not interested in playing hero and villain but is interested in playing people. Interestingly, the great-great-great grandchildren of a Confederate Cavalary Colonel grew up with shotguns and rifles.

If you didn't know, it was his close friend Robert De Niro who encouraged reluctant Anson to take the role of Ben in Crossroads. Amazingly, Anson found the role too cheesy and lame when he was first introduced to the role.

However, Dutch actress, director, screen-writer and fashion model Famke Janssen was his girlfriend in the past. Anyway, the reason that worked as a catalyst of their break up is not known as well.
