Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger is an American football quarterback, born on the 2nd of March, 1982. Currently he is 33 years old. His home town is Lima, located in the state of Ohio in the United States of America. His parents are Ida Jane and Kenneth Todd Roethlisberger. His father was also into football and he was even the pitcher and quarterback of the team of Georgia Tech. It was pretty much clear that Ben was going to lean towards sports.

Education and early career

Ben graduated the Findlay High School in Findlay, Ohio. He was the captain of the football as well as of the basketball and baseball teams. He went to college at the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and he did his debut match in 2001 against the team of Michigan. He managed to go 18-35 for 193 yards and managed to land 2 touchdowns. During his sophomore season he plaid the first regular game. The date was 31st of August and his team was up against North Carolina. He did a 59-yard punt, breaking his career record.

His junior season in 2003 began with a match against Louisville. Ben led the Miami RedHawks to accomplish a 49-28 victory that is well remembered even today. He was obviously a natural talent and this wasn’t passed without a notice. The success on the Miami RedHawks team inevitably led to him being drafted early on. He was amongst the first four quarterbacks who were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft during 2004. In fact, he was the highest-drafted quarterback that year.

Professional Career

Pursuant to the 2004 NFL Draft, Roethlisberger got selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. They signed the contract on the 4th of August, 2004. The money that they agreed upon was $22.26 million paid in salaries as well as bonuses and an additional $17 million via incentives. Four years later, Roethlisberger re-signed a contract with the team, agreeing to play for additional eight years. This second contract was worth about $102 million. During the 2004 season, when he was first accepted in the team, Ben didn’t really start off as a starting QB. He was actually 3rd in line after Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch. He stepped in for the first time after an unsatisfactory performance of Batch and an injury of Maddox. Unfortunately this game was lost.

Looking at his career stats, Roethlisberger undeniably deserves the awards that he’s won. During his time in the NFL he won the Pro Bowl three times, the Super Bowl twice, he was an AFC Champion three times. He’s won a variety of personal awards such as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, NFL Passing Yards Co-Leader and many more.  All of this has attributed to his significant net worth of about $70 million.

Personal Life

Ben Roethlisberger comes from a relatively small family. He has only one sister who is younger than him – Carlee. She played basketball at the University of Oklahoma. Ben got his wedding on the 23rd of July, 2011. His wife – Ashley Harlan is a physician assistant. They have two kids – a boy and a girl – Benjamin and Baylee.
