Bill Engvall

William Ray Bill Engvall, Jr. is a famous American actor and comedian. He was born on July 27, 1957 in Galveston, Texas, USA. He is married to Gail, since 1982 and they have a daughter named Emily and a son Travis.

Engvall worked as a nightclub DJ in Dallas, when he discovered his passion for comedy. His passion was strong and he began performing in several local clubs and briefly in St. Louis. His comedy amazed audiences. In 1990 he moved to Los Angeles seeking greener pastures. Here along with Rosie O’Donnell he hosted the Pair of Jokers. He also appeared on Evening at the Improv and The Tonight Show along with Jay Leno

Engvall is best known as a stand-up comedian, as a member of the Blue Collar Comedy group and his signature ‘Here’s Your Sign bit.’ He has several recorded albums, some of which are Here’s Your Sign, Aged and Confused and Dorkfish. Eventually he started doing TV shows. He appeared on Designing Women and got a regular role on Delta. Warner Bros. appreciating his talent signed him on in 1996 and released his country debut album ‘Here’s Your Sign.’  He did a tour with Jeff Foxworthy another comedian. In 1988 the LP Dorkish was released. Both his LPs Dorkish and Here’s Your Sign achieved gold. The same year, his album ‘Here’s Your Christmas,’ appeared. 

By now Engvall was a household name. His releases were numerous. The album ‘Now That’s Awesome’ was released in 2000. Again in the company of Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable White, he went on a Blue Collar Comedy Tour (2000). As their act became popular, they continued touring for the next several years. During their tours, the quartet released several albums, a cable TV show and a movie.

Despite the success of Blue Collar, Engvall continued making his own releases. He released Cheap Drunk: An Autobiography (2002), Here’s Your Sign Reloaded (2003), A Decade of Laughs (2004) which is a roundup of some of his best work, 15o Off Cool (2007), and Aged and Confused (2009). Ron White departed and The Blue Collar Comedy wound up. 2012 saw Engvall, Foxworthy and Larry on another tour and the release of the album Them Idiots Whirled Tour. In 2013 he competed at the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2014 he released his career retrospective Ultimate Laughs.

Engvall is happily married to Gail for 32 years and is passionately dedicated to her. From his long married life he uses material for his stand-up comedies. Divorce does not exist in their lives. He credits his success to his wife Gail.
