There are many controversies, when it comes to his work. His work is seen as a perfect sports column, by many people and a few see it as a personal blog, in which the writer uses sports to explain his life experiences. He talks about movies, his relationship with his friends and many other general guiding focuses, sing sports as a medium. He was also accused of rating, the movies made by Disney, very high and others, quite poorly. Simply because Disney is his employer, he cannot lose his balance as a columnist and this is a common criticism against him.

He is accused of criticizing a few teams and for praising few others. Maybe this is why he always wanted to keep his personal and marriage life, out of the media glare. Maybe, he does not want any comments about how he leads his life. Yet, while combining the personal life with sports, his relationships tend to look out of his lines. His columns sometimes talk about his relationship with his wife, children and his parents.

There are a lot of columns in which he has mentioned about his family but, has never used their real names or discussed about his personal problems. In one of his columns, he told to his 13 year old self, not to get married until 45. This was when Kari was pregnant with his child. He also has mentioned in a few columns about her whining. His comments about Kari in his columns actually attracted a lot of negative comments. Nevertheless, he seems to have a happy marital life with no turn towards divorce.

He was once asked about Kari’s Halloween costume and he said that she does not sleep a lot because the kids do not sleep easily. She has black eyes and a permanent scowl. He said that he has dated only two women in his life and neither of them lasted long enough. He named both of them as half-crouchers and advised his readers, not to end up with half-crouchers. These are the type of comments which actually take up the controversial paths and bring him more negative remarks. No matter how negative the remarks are, his fans are very attracted to his way of writing; combining his personal life with sports.

There are many controversies about the quality of his work too. People tend to judge him and his columns. He took the right decision about keeping his personal affairs to himself. If he had not done so, the comments about his personal life would have increased quite significantly. He once talked about his views on parenthood. He said that he can never predict what his kids want and did not know about what they care. He used to take his daughter to games, to check whether she likes them or not.
