Background

Bo was born on November 20, 1956 as Mary Cathleen Collins to parents, Paul Collins and Norma Bass. Her birth place is Long Beach, California. Bo was always a beautiful girl, she attended George S. Patton Continuation School and Narbonne High School. She enrolled in both the schools, when she was living in Harbor City, California.

In an interview with Interview Magazine, Bo spoke about how it was growing up on the beach and sailing in her childhood, “I was brought up along the beaches in Southern California, and then got to have horses. And now we’ve just got this vacation house and we have boats, so hopefully I’ll be sailing pretty soon. I did. Sailing, surfing. My father actually lived next door to Hobie Alter [creator of the Hobie catamarans]. So growing up, we had prototypes and experimental things that we could play with; it was just fabulous. I actually bought my first surfboard in junior high. I saved my money.”

She once claimed in an interview that, she did not really mean to quit school, but she had to stop her studies, when she was only 16. She grew tired of the schedule of school and she wanted to enjoy the sunbathing and beach surfing for a month instead of going to school. Once she got addicted to the beach life, she decided that school wasn’t for her. She elaborated on what led her to leave school and also a scary hitchhiking incident, “I skipped school for a month straight. It was terrible. I got in big trouble. My mother was working a lot, so she was gone often. I would leave school and hitchhike to the beach. I can’t believe I hitchhiked now. It scares me to death now. I usually did it with girlfriends. I think I did it once alone. Never again. It wasn’t a good experience. Just some creeps. They pulled over, and I got in and I learned. [laughs] I said, “You can let me out now,” and they did, which is good. It’s not their fault that they thought I wanted to have a little fun. I think about that sometimes. I don’t think it was safer then, I really don’t. I think a high school girl hitchhiking is stupid. It was dangerous then and it’s dangerous now.”

She loved to seek adventure with her girlfriends. Escaping society was a big draw for her. Since it was forbidden to skip school, she felt like she was being a cool kid because she was ditching school to hang out on the beach. She eventually got bored because all was she was doing was hanging out at the beach. She eventually got tired of being a beach bum and went back to school.

Career

She is widely known for her work in movies during the 70s and 80s. During that period, her films were recognized for their sexy posters which featured her in swimsuits. Since then, she became one of the most famous sex symbols of the 1980s. She had a slim body type, blue eyes, and blonde hair. Her distinctive features were her beautiful hair and pretty face.
