Briana Evigan, born on October 23, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress and professional dancer. She comes from a family rooted in the entertainment industry. Her mother, Pamela C. Serpe, was a dancer, actress, and model, while her father, Greg Evigan, is a well-known actor. Briana is of Polish and Italian descent through her grandparents. She has two older siblings and began dancing at the age of nine.
Evigan earned a degree in Speech and Communication from Los Angeles Valley College. In addition to acting and dancing, she is musically inclined—she plays the keyboard and sings in a band called Moorish Idol.
As a dancer, Briana Evigan appeared in several music videos for prominent artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Linkin Park, T-Pain, and Flo Rida. Her breakout role came in 2008 when she starred as Andie West in the dance film Step Up 2: The Streets, the sequel to 2006’s Step Up. The film was shot in Baltimore in 2007 and released on February 14, 2008. Although it received mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it was a box office success.
Following her success in Step Up 2: The Streets, Evigan expanded her repertoire into horror and drama films. In 2009, she played a major role in S. Darko, the sequel to the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. That same year, she starred in the slasher film Sorority Row, released on September 11, 2009. Directed by Stewart Hendler and written by Josh Stolberg, the film debuted at number six at the U.S. box office. Evigan was praised for her performance, and the DVD release followed on February 23, 2010.
In February 2009, Evigan announced her participation in the remake of Mother’s Day, where she played one of the lead roles. This film was later released on DVD on May 8, 2012. She also played the lead role of Kelly Taylor in the thriller Burning Bright and appeared in the romantic drama Subject: I Love You.
