Giovinazzo is known for his many talents and passions which range from acting to singing, painting, and even poetry. He mostly paints with oils and one of his paintings even appeared in an episode of "CSI: NY" called "Tri-Borough". Giovinazzo is also the lead vocalist of the band Ceesau. The group went on to release one album titled "Era of the Exposed" in 2008. One of the group's songs titled "Tear To Spare" from the debut album even appeared in an episode of "CSI: NY" called "Sanguine Love", the same episode that Giovinazzo wrote.

Giovinazzo is a cousin of Buddy Giovinazzo, an American filmmaker, and Larry Romano, an American film and television actor. He went on to marry actress Vanessa Marcil on July 11, 2010, in a private New York City wedding. Marcil has a son with her former boyfriend Brian Austin Green and was previously married to former child-actor Corey Feldman. Marcil's son was present during her marriage to Giovinazzo. 

A year later, the pair announced they were expecting but Vanessa miscarried twice in the same year. The marriage would be short-lived and Marcil would file for divorce from Giovinazzo in August 2012 citing irreconcilable differences between them. On March 2013, the divorce was finalized and the pair split for good. Giovinazzo has a sister named Alise who coincidentally worked for the NYPD.

As part of the pair's divorce settlement, Marcil got the house and the clothing line Baby Gagoo while Giovinazzo would get to keep his vehicles and several other assets. She also went after Giovinazzo for her legal fees and requested child support. A rumor circulated that right before the pair were married, Marcil was cheating on Giovinazzo with a woman named Jillian Michaels. It is said the pair were discovered kissing and showing affection in public places but they both maintained they were just good friends.

Jillian Michaels is an American trainer who was seen with Marcil a lot at the time she married Giovinazzo. There were other rumors that Giovinazzo separated from Marcil over the fact that she is homosexual although no evidence has emerged to substantiate the theory. Marcil was very open about her past dating life and boasts a long list of celebrity ex's including Tob Camilletti, Antonio Sabato Jr, Vince Neil, Nathan Fillion, Ben Younger, and Jeremy Piven.

Following the Giovinazzo's divorce from Marcil, there was speculation that he was gay. Giovinazzo refused to comment on his sexuality and the theory eventually died out after a lack of evidence. Since he broke up with Marcil, he has been very tight-lipped about the relationship as well as any subsequent relationships. Giovinazzo has kept his dating life private ever since his divorce from Marcil which was ultimately doomed from the start by her infidelity and the miscarriages seemed to seal the deal.
