Carmine Dominick Giovinazzo was born August 24, 1973, in Staten Island, New York to parents Nancy and Dominick Giovinazzo. He comes from a family of police officers of Italian, English, Native American, and Norwegian descent. During his childhood years, Giovinazzo was an exceptional athlete with a passion for baseball. He attended Port Richmond High School and graduated in 1991. After graduating high school, Giovinazzo earned a full-ride baseball scholarship to Wagner College. He initially had hopes of becoming a professional baseball player but his dreams of playing MLB were dashed when he sustained a serious back injury.

Despite having to overcome his back injury and losing all hope of playing professional baseball, Giovinazzo eventually pulled through with the help of his family who supported him along the way. Soon after, he discovered an interest in acting. While attending Wagner College he studied acting as well as at HB Studios. He spent the following four years working gigs in the New York area mostly for free.

Career:

Giovinazzo moved to Los Angeles, California in 1997 to pursue a career in acting. It wasn't long after arriving that he was met with success and landed his first paying Hollywood role in the pilot of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Giovinazzo's character on the show was the first on-screen victim to die in the series. After adding "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to his resume, Giovinazzo began appearing in various guest-starring roles both in television and film.

Giovinazzo appeared in films such as "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss", "For Love of the Game", "The Big Brass Ring", and "Black Hawk Down". He also landed a role as one of the stars of the UPN sitcom "Shasta McNasty". While the show was short-lived, his performance in "Shasta McNasty" earned him a nomination for a Peoples Choice Award. Giovinazzo was well on his way to a successful career and soon he was landing starring roles in films such as "In Enemy Hands" alongside fellow actor William H. Macy, and "Players" with Freddy Rodriguez and Peter Dobson

After starring in several successful films, Giovinazzo went back to television for perhaps his most popular role yet as forensic scientist Danny Messer on the hit TV series "CSI: NY". He is also the first actor to appear in all three CSI series. Giovinazzo's character was introduced in the "CSI: Miami" episode "MIA/NYC NonStop". He also guest-starred in season three of the Las Vegas-based original series as street racer Thumpy G in the episode titled "Revenge is Best Served Cold". It was never confirmed whether his guest appearance as Thumpy G was related in any way to his character on "CSI: NY".

Giovinazzo went on to write and appear in season six's vampire-themed episode "Sanguine Love" where he joined the series leads Melina Kanakaredes and Gary Sinise, both of whom have also written episodes in the series. Giovinazzo's next appearance would be in a recurring role as Sid Markham in season two of the USA series "Graceland". The show reunited him with his former co-star from "CSI: NY" Vanessa Ferlito.

In 2016, Giovinazzo appeared in the show "Criminal Minds" in season 11 episode 15 titled "A Badge and a Gun". Most recently, Giovinazzo is working on a film slated to release in 2018 called "Duke".
