Chuck Liddell

Chuck Liddell was born on 17 December, 1969 in Santa Barbara, California, United States. His real name is Charles David Liddell, but he also has the nickname The Iceman.

He was raised by his mother and his grandfather. He was the one who taught him how to throw his first punch. He has three more siblings: Sean, Dan and Laura. Sean is also a MMA player, who is fighting in WEC.

By the age of 12, Chuck Liddell began to study Koei-Kan Karate. His athletic skills made him a four-year starter on the High School’s Football team. He was also practicing wrestling. He was a regular on bar fights, because he had the opportunity to fight real persons. His education is connected to sports – he was Division I wrestler at California Polytechnic State University from San Luis Obispo. After that, he began to train himself in the mixed martial arts – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Jon Lewis.

UFC Career

Chuck Liddell’s debut in UFC was in 1998, during UFC 17 in Mobile, Alabama. He started his career right defeating his opponents, one by one. He had victories with Kevin Randleman, Murilo Bustamante, Amar Suloev, Vitor Belfort, Jeff Monson, Tito Ortiz and Renato Sobral.

His 12 year career as a fighter finished in 2010 when he officially retired. He occupied the position of Vice President of Business Development of UFC. His retirement statement was very emotional, and people were saying that he didn’t actually want to retire. But he had to do it, considering his age and the fact that his career started to fall down.

Family and Business

After his retirement he was more focused on his family. On November 4, 2010 Chuck Liddell proposed to Heidi Northcott, his girlfriend. She said Yes and the two of them got married. They had their first child in 2011, a girl named Guinevere. His wife gave birth to their second child, Charles David Liddell Jr.in 2013. They are not his only children – he also has 2 children with Casey Noland, another MMA fighter.

He was a former partner in a bar business –Dillinger’s and NZone. He retired from those in 2010, and chose to open his own store The Ultimate Iceman. The store closed in 2011 because he wanted to concentrate more on on-online sales.

During his career he fought in 29 matches – 21 wins and 8 losses. His 8 losses are 6 by knock outs, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.
