Claire Stoermer Coleman was born on March 24, 1964, in Oakland, California, USA. She is of Dutch descent. Claire attended Oakland High School in her hometown. After graduating, she enrolled at Santa Clara University, where she studied from 1983 to 1987.
Claire has worked as an elementary school teacher in Oakland since 1990, dedicating her career to educating young minds. In addition to her role in education, she became the house manager for the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California, in 1998. She also participated in the theater’s student program, supporting the training of young performers. Her daughter Zendaya often joined her there, taking part in stage productions and assisting with tasks such as seating patrons and selling raffle tickets to support the theater.
Claire met Kazembe Ajamu Coleman in the early 1990s, and the couple later married in 2008. They have one child together, Zendaya.
