Cortland Finnegan

Cortland Finnegan was born as Cortland Temujin Finnegan was born on 2nd February 1984 in a city called Fayetteville which is located in North Carolina. He grew up with his family in Florida. He did his schooling at Milton School, which was located in a city called Milton in the state of Florida. He represented his school in American Football. He performed exceptionally well for his school team. In 2002, he was part of All-State second-team. His average was very good in high school. He is also excellent in defense doing 65 tackles.

Ryan did his college in the Samford University and represented his college football team Samford Bulldogs. He impressed everyone with his tackling skills. He started in every game both in his junior year and senior year. He won various awards for his defense skills including Defensive Athlete of the junior year in a Conference held in Ohio Valley. His tackle count was 86 in his junior year with an average of 26, which includes one touchdown. He started every game in senior year at the position of free safety. He was included in the first team of All-American in the report published related to NFL draft. His running speed was good at Pro Day, which happens in Samford.

In 2006, NFL scouts thought his height was short and his tackles are shaky. Even though Finnegan was predicted to go unpicked by Sports Illustrated magazine, he was picked by the Titans team of Tennessee in the NFL draft of 2006. He was picked in the 7th round as a seventh pick. Finnegan happened to be the first player from Samford to be drafted into an NFL team after Gary Fleming.

In his first season with the Titans, he started 2 games and played all the 16 games of the season. He had a very fruitful season and the Titans campaign was good. In 2008, he was awarded best Defensive Player for the week by AFC. He also started in a Pro Bowl game in 2009, which happened to his only selection in Pro Bowl Game. He was awarded the Community Man of 2010 by Titans team, mainly because of his involvement in fundraising activities. He was associated with the Titans team from 2006 to 2011. In 2010, Cortland was fined 3 times because of his on-field altercations with opposition team players.

Finnegan got a five-year contract with Rams football of St. Louis for $50 million dollars. He had a reasonably good season with the Rams. Again he was fined in 2013 for an altercation with Jordy Nelson.

He joined Miami Dolphin team in 2014 after he was released from the Rams team. He was released from the Dolphin Team in 2015. He retired from NFL in 2015. He came out of retirement and joined Carolina Panthers team in November 2015.
