Darrelle Revis is known as a former American football cornerback. He is most famous for playing on the New York Jets of the National Football League.
Darrelle was born on July 14, 1985, in the state of Pennsylvania. The name of his father is Darryl Revis and the name of his mother is Diana Gilbert. He grew up with two siblings. The name of his brother is Terry Revis and the name of his sister is DeAudra Revis. His parents were involved in sports and encouraged their children to stay active. His mom, Diana was a high school track star. His Uncle Mark Gilbert was highly talented, gaining a spot on Duquesne University's Basketball Team and his Uncle Sean Gilbert had an outstanding multi year career in the NFL.
Revis attended the University of Pittsburgh. Darrelle started playing football when he was in college and he received several awards such as Player of the Year and Fabulous 22 award. He was also very active in track and field events.
He led his college team to victory in several matches. Some of the awards he won were ESPN College Football Player of the Year Award and First Team Freshman All American Award.
Darrelle never got married but he has two children. The name of his son is Jayden Revis and the name of his daughter is Deyani Shavae Revis.
In 2017, it was reported that Darrelle got involved in a street brawl. The incident took place in Pittsburgh. As per the news report, Darrelle attacked two of his fans. His fans were following him and they were recording him on a mobile phone. This made Darrelle lose his temper and he snatched the phone and threw it on the road. He also punched his fans and his fans were unconscious after being hit by him. The police were called and he was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats but Darrelle was released the next day. His fans were outraged and they expressed their anger on Twitter.
In 2007, Darrelle Revis got a chance to play in the NFL but he couldn’t play right away because of an injury to his hamstring. He was picked in the first round by the New York Jets in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was highly scouted and considered to be a top player on the defensive side as a cornerback.. His contract duration with the New York Jets was five years and paid him 36 Million Dollars. Darrelle missed 21 days of training camp because of a delay in contract negotiations. His mother was involved in the negotiation process and his college stats played a major factor during the process.
He played for the New York Jets until 2012 but the team didn’t extend his contract. He was then signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a contract worth 96 Million dollars. He later joined the New England Patriots before returning back to the New York Jets.
When Revis retired, he finished as a Super Bowl Champion and 7 time Pro Bowler.
