Due to her parents break up, Davina was brought up by her grandmother, who according to Davina completely turned her life around in a positive way and she feels her granny is somehow responsible for her success. In her teenage years, Davina was a drug addict. However, she managed to get out of it and now she is a teetotaler and off drugs from more than 20 years. Davina used to date old family friend Eric Clapton who helped her to overcome her drug addiction. This affair lasted for only a short period. McCall started dating Andrew Leggett in her twenties, and they got married in the year 1997. Unfortunately, they decided to get a divorce just after two years of marriage in 1999.

Then in the year 2000, while walking her dog, The Universe sent a signal when Davina met with love of her life and future husband Mathew Robertson. They are now married for 14 years with three beautiful kids- two daughters, Holy Robertson age 13 and Tilly Robertson age 11 and a son, Chester Robertson age 8. Mathew Robertson is also a former presenter of Pet Rescue and presently run a travel company Momentum Adventures. This was his first marriage. Davina jokingly says, despite having a more successful wife professionally, he is the boss at home and she likes to be keeping their relationship the “traditional way” where she is a caring, sweet wife and Matthew is a strong and manly husband. In every marriage, there is a time when everything seems unsolvable and couple starts thinking to part ways. The marriage of Davina McCall and Mathew Robertson also had those difficult times.

Davina McCall admits that their 14 year marriage was in trouble before her 500 mile sports relief campaign. For six months, there was a very tough challenge for them to save their marriage. After the campaign, Davina was so exhausted, she moved to tears and had to be rescued from the freezing Windermere Lake. According to her, those were the most challenging and testing days of their marital life and accept that had they been younger, they would have thought about breaking up their marriage. This TV star revealed that at that time her husband’s father was ill and Mathew himself had a shoulder injury .Despite not talking about it, this couple knew that they are having a tough phase of their life. However, everything is back to normal now and according to Davina McCall, that period really helped them to get back together. The couple is now happy with each other and no matter what the difficulties, wants to spend the rest of their life with each other.
