Anne Stringfield is an American writer and former staffer for The New Yorker magazine and is the second wife of comedian Steve Martin. Anne Stringfield was born in 1972 in Pensacola, Florida; her father is a pulmonologist and her mother is an archaeologist at the University of West Florida. Anne Stringfield attended Pensacola High School and graduated from Davidson College. Anne used to write art reviews for Vogue and it was a mutual love of art that brought her together with Steve Martin, an avid art collector. Anne married Steve Martin on July 28, 2007 at his home in Los Angeles, it was Anne’s first marriage.
Lorne Michaels served as Steve’s best man and Anne’s sister was the designated bridesmaid. Although it was a low key affair, with just seventy five guests, stars such as Tom Hanks and Carl Reiner were in attendance. Steve is twenty six years older than Anne and when they were blessed with a daughter in December of 2012, Steve was sixty seven. Although he joked about naming the baby “Conquistador” on The Late Night with David Letterman show, the couple instead chose a simpler name, Mary. The couple has been happily married for fifteen years and Steve Martin remains as smitten as he was when he first met Anne and quoted Wordsworth by referring to her as a “violet by a mossy stone.”
