Elizabeth Kate “Liz” Claman was born on December 12, 1963, in Beverly Hills, California, to Canadian parents. Raised in a Jewish family, she is one of five siblings. Her mother, June Beverly Claman, is an actress of Romanian descent, and her father, the late Dr. Morris Claman, was a world-renowned urologist and an associate clinical professor of urology at the UCLA School of Medicine.
Liz attended Beverly Hills High School and later studied at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where she served as a disc jockey for the school’s radio station. In college, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from the University of California, Berkeley, and also received the Certificat Supérieur de Français from the Sorbonne in Paris.
Claman’s long-time friend Claudia Cowan, a reporter for Fox News, has known her since the second grade.

Her national television career gained traction at CNBC, where she co-anchored several programs including Morning Call, Wake Up Call, and briefly, Market Watch. She also hosted CNBC’s newsmagazine program Cover to Cover. Claman served as a substitute anchor on The News with Brian Williams shortly before Williams left MSNBC in 2004 for NBC News.

Since joining Fox, she has conducted numerous high-profile interviews and has played a vital role in the network's financial coverage.
Her contributions to the field have strengthened her position within the industry, and she continues to advocate for equitable treatment and compensation among journalists, including the ongoing issue of gender pay disparity in media.
Claman resides in Edgewater, New Jersey, with her husband, Jeff Kepnes, a television executive producer currently with CNN. The couple married in 1999 and have two children together. Her family includes several other accomplished professionals: her oldest sister Danielle is an executive at Dick Wolf Films, her younger brother is a musician, and another sister works as a studio musician in Hollywood.
