Marisa Ramirez was born in 1977 and is an American actress. She attended Ramona Convent Secondary School, an all-girls institution located in Alhambra, California. Her interest in acting began early, and by the age of 13, she had already captured the attention of a major Los Angeles modeling agency, which led to an international modeling career. Upon returning home, Ramirez transitioned into acting and hosting roles.
Ramirez gained recognition through starring roles in several well-known daytime series. One of her most notable appearances has been as NYPD Detective Maria Baez on the CBS crime drama Blue Bloods, a role she took over following the departure of Jennifer Esposito. Prior to that, she portrayed Officer Riley Dunn on Body of Proof and starred as Lina Flores in Lifetime’s Against the Wall. Although the series received a positive response, it was not renewed for a second season.
Ramirez also portrayed Melitta in the Starz miniseries Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which was filmed in New Zealand. These roles marked her growing presence in primetime television drama.
Early in her career, Ramirez made appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives. Her breakout role came when she was cast as supermodel Gia Campbell on the long-running soap opera General Hospital. She left the series in 2002 to join ABC’s short-lived supernatural drama Miracles. During her time on General Hospital, Ramirez received nominations for both NAACP Image Awards and ALMA Awards, recognizing her growing influence in daytime television.
In 2006, she joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Jabot Cosmetics consultant Carmen Mesta, a character who was written off the series after five months. Ramirez returned in 2007 playing Ines Vargas, Carmen's cousin.
Following her time on American soaps, Ramirez moved to Colombia to work on the Fox series Mental, in which she starred alongside Annabella Sciorra and Chris Vance. This international experience broadened her acting portfolio and solidified her adaptability across diverse roles and productions.
According to public biographical information, Marisa Ramirez was previously married and divorced in 2011. In 2016, she announced that she was expecting a child, who was born in May of the same year.
Over the years, Ramirez has built an extensive portfolio in both movies and television shows. Her film credits include All Souls Day, Columbia Ave, and Itty Bitty Titty Committee. On television, she has appeared in Miracles, CSI: Miami, Roswell, General Hospital, Port Charles, and Senseless Acts of Video, among others.
Additional TV credits include USA High, Bones, Against the Wall, Body of Proof, and Blue Bloods. She has also featured in several music videos, such as "As Long As You Love Me" by Backstreet Boys, "Give It to You" by Jordan Knight, "Wherever You Go" by Voices of Theory, and "Tease Me" by 3T. Her commercial work includes campaigns for Special K and Coca-Cola.
