Shari Headley was born on July 15, 1964, in Queens, New York, United States. She was raised in a middle-class household as the youngest of four children. From a young age, Headley aspired to become a performer and frequently participated in school productions and local shows during her high school years.
Headley began her professional acting career in 1985 with a guest appearance on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.
