Steve Doocy is known as an American news anchor. He is most famous for hosting Fox and Friends.
Stephen James Doocy was born on October 19, 1956, in Algona, Iowa. He was born to JoAnne and James Edward Doocy. He has four sisters, Lisa, Ann, Jenny, and Cathy. Stephen Doocy spent most of his childhood in Abilene, Kansas. After completing high school, Stephen Doocy attended the University of Kansas where he graduated with a degree in Journalism. He was an active participant on campus where he was the first on-air DJ for the school radio 90.7 FM in Lawrence, Kansas.
Stephen Doocy is married to Kate Gerrity. Stephen and Gerrity met while working together in Washington, D.C. The couple spent six years dating before they married. Together Stephen and Kate have three children, Peter, Mary, and Sally Doocy. Stephen’s son Peter has followed in his father’s footsteps as a journalist and now anchors the Fox and Friends show in the morning.
Following his college education, Stephen Doocy started his career as a news reporter. He worked at various positions in Kansas City, Topeka, Wichita, and Des Moines. His early career included working as a morning newscast anchor for WCBS-TV in New York. He was also a co-host of Wake Up America on NBC and hosted the syndicated show House Party with Steve Doocy from 1989 to 1990.
Doocy moved to WRC in Washington DC where he was an Emmy award-winning reporter for six years. In addition to his posts with various news networks, Stephen Doocy completed four years as a live Times Square reporter for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Doocy also anchored Fox’s children’s news magazine called “Not Just News”.
In 1996, Doocy joined the Fox News Channel. In 2008 he started co-hosting the show Fox and Friends before helping to launch the Fox News Channel’s New Year’s Eve special in 2004 called an “All-American New Year” with hosts Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer. The “All-American New Year” special is a direct competitor to ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest”. Fox and Friends is a daily conservative morning talk show that features interviews, current affairs, interviews, political analysis, and entertainment.

The appeal of the Fox and Friends show gained popularity after the 2016 election of Donald Trump. President Trump was a regular on-air guest to the show prior to the election. Following the election, Donald Trump called the show “the most honest morning show”. The New York Times called Fox and Friends “the most powerful TV show in America” after President Trump continued to quote and tweet remarks about the show on Twitter. The endorsement by President Trump has added over $32 million dollars of ad revenue to the Fox News Network since the election
In addition to being a major contributor for presidential election coverage, Stephen Doocy has conducted interviews with numerous celebrities and newsmakers including Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, Dick Cheney, George W. Doocy is also known for being a published writer. Doocy wrote two books which both became featured on the New York bestseller list. Both books were published by William Morrow and Company, a division of the larger Harper Collins company. The first book written by Doocy was called “Mr. and Mrs. Happy”, and the second “Tales from Dad Side”. Stephen Doocy explained he was inspired to write the second book after a lack of material available to show the advice that fathers share with their children.
Stephen Doocy currently lives with his wife in Wyckoff, New Jersey where he is an active member of the Roman Catholic church. He serves his parish and community as a lector. The Doocy family is active in the community and enjoy the shopping and leisure activities in their city. They shop, eat, and participate in local events. Stephen Doocy was called “a big home-improver” in the local newspaper.
Stephen Doocy was implicated in a lawsuit brought forward by Gretchen Carlson against Roger Ailes. In the lawsuit, accusations of harassment and bullying are alleged against Stephen Doocy by Gretchen Carlson. The lawsuit was eventually settled with a 20 million dollar payout to Gretchen Carlson and the removal of Roger Ailes from the network. Stephen Doocy continued to anchor on the early morning Fox and Friends show, but the controversy surrounding his conduct and behavior has not gone away.
