Emmanuelle Chriqui was born to Moroccan Jewish immigrants, Albert and Liliane Chriqui. She is the youngest of three siblings, with one older brother and one older sister. Her family relocated to Unionville, a suburb north of Toronto, when she was a child. Her brother, Serge, played a significant role in supporting her early ambitions by paying for her acting classes. Chriqui credits her mother’s encouragement as the inspiration behind her decision to pursue acting professionally.
Chriqui's passion for acting emerged during her childhood. At the age of 10, she appeared in a McDonald’s commercial, marking the beginning of her career in performance. After completing her education, including participation in the Arts York Drama Program at Unionville High School, she firmly committed to acting.
She launched her on-screen career with roles in Canadian television series, including Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues in the mid-1990s. Her film debut came in 1995 with a role in the movie The Donor.
