Erik Estrada was born on March 16 1949 in New York. His father was from Puerto Rico and mother from the USA. Erik holds American nationality as of now Erik was a very polite and disciplined person from childhood. He never used to pick fights with the other children opposed to what kids from this generation. His discipline and policies made him inclined towards police and government jobs but he chose a different path and went on to work in the TV industry.
His first role came in The Cross and the Switchblade in 1970 in which he played Nicky Cruz. In 1972 he appeared in the movie The New Centurions as LAPD officer. This movie was well received by the critics as well as the fans and through it, Erik made a mark on everyone's mind. In 1974 he did a movie called Airport 1975. This movie was about a plane crash in which he played a cabin engineer. This film was a commercial success as well.
In 1979 Erick has a very severe crash while shooting for CHiPs. In this accident, he was thrown off of his 270 kg motorcycle and fractured many of his bones. It took a very long time for him to recover but he did and came back to acting due to his determination and passion. He has a height of 1.77m and due to this and many other reasons, in 1979 he was voted among the Top Ten Sexiest Bachelors in the World by Peoples magazine.
At this point in time, his fame was unparalleled in the movie industry as he was doing some very great projects. In 1990 he set out to play a role of trucker for a Latin American show. This show was initially budgeted for 100 episodes but the response from the fans made it a 400 episode show and the credit went to Erik for his passionate acting skills.
In 2001 he peered in the Tv series The Bold and the Beautiful along with many other shows. He also appeared in Eminem's famous music video Just lose it. He also launched a brand called Estradasphere which is based in California. Erick had an ongoing feud with George Lopez a comedian based in America. According to Lopez, the reason for all the hate against Erik is that he didn't shake Lopez's hand while he was shooting for CHiPs which Erik says never happened. Lopez has been heard man times saying bad things about Erik but as polite as Erik is he has found nothing against Lopez and always wants to steer clear of the unwanted drama.
Erik married his first wife Peggy Lynn Rowe in 1985 but they could not last long together and took divorce in 1990 due to some misunderstandings. He later married Nanette Mirkovich in 1997. He has 2 sons and daughter both the son's being from the first marriage and the daughter from the current marriage.
