Continued Television and Film Appearances

Kaplan continued to appear on television throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s. He took part in various shows including Battle of the Network Stars on ABC and Lewis & Clark on NBC. In 1979, after leaving Welcome Back, Kotter, Kaplan returned to stand-up comedy and also starred in the comedy film Fast Break. The movie featured the popular song "With You I'm Born Again," performed by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright. The song reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was released under the Motown Records label.

Professional Poker Career

Gabe Kaplan also built a successful career in professional poker. He first appeared at the World Series of Poker in 1978 and went on to win Amarillo Slim's Super Bowl of Poker in 1980. Between 1980 and 1985, Kaplan secured two additional titles in the same tournament. Recognized for his skill, he became a respected figure in the poker community and competed in major events including the World Poker Tour, Poker After Dark, and multiple World Series of Poker tournaments.
