From his biography, Macht was born in the city of The Bronx in New York. He is a son to Suzanne Victoria Pulier who is a museum curator and archivist and Stephen Macht who is an actor. He was born with 3 siblings, they are Jesse who is a musician and appeared in The Next Great American Band, Julie and Ari Serbin. He was born to Jewish parents. He was raised in the state of California since the age of five and after he graduated at the Beverly Hills High School he went to Carnegie Mellon College for Fine Arts and he graduated in the year 1994.

He started to play at the age of 8 and he was nominated for Best Young Motion Picture Actor Award. It was in the film Why Would I Life and he was using Gabriel Swann as the stage name. He appeared in different film or television roles like A Love Song for Bobby Long, The Recruit, and Because I Said So and in Archangel. For the movie Behind Enemy lines, he spent at least a week when he was at the sea filming at corridors and flight deck and of hangar bay at USS Carl Vinson. He played a title role of Frank Miller in the adaptation of comic creation of Will Eisner called The Spirit. Even if the film became a failure in theater, together with Macht, they gained the cult following.

In the year 2010, it was said that Macht signed to be the star for the Suits which was a new drama for USA network. The show was to be called first A Legal Mind. This show became the success for both USA network and Gabriel and it had been renewed to reach to the 16 episodes. His name and that of another co-star Patrick J Adams were found in the co-producers for its season 3.

Gabriel Macht is married to Jacinda Barret an actress born in Australia. The wedding took place in 2004. His wife gave birth to their first children, a girl called Satine Anais Geraldine Macht in 2007 in Los Angeles and the second child called Luca was born in 2014. Gabriel Macht had been the best friend to his co-star in the Suits for over 20 years and from the time they met at Williamstown Theater Festival in 1993. Gabriel Macht is vegetarian and practices the green living.
