Gina Torres is an American television and film actress, born on April 25, 1969, in Manhattan, New York. She was born at the Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital and is the youngest of three children. Raised in a bilingual household, Torres is fluent in Spanish, reflecting her Cuban heritage.
Torres demonstrated an early passion for the performing arts, especially music. She attended New York City's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she focused on vocal performance. A versatile singer, she trained in jazz, opera, and gospel. Although she had aspirations to attend college, financial limitations prevented her from pursuing higher education at that time.
