Torres also did a role in the independent movie ‘South of Pico’ as Carla, and she repeated her role as Zoe Washburne of ‘Firefly’ in a movie sequel “Serenity”. Presently, she is playing the main role in “Suits” as Jessica Pearson on USA Network show. Torres and her husband Laurence Fishburne was also a TV couple on the NBC’s ‘Hannibal’.

Education

Torres began her singing career at a very young age and attended F HHS (Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School) in New York, and she joined in a School of Music and Art, as she loved to pursue her career in music and she participated in Vocal curriculum.  She was a beautiful singer; she sang Jazz, Opera, and Gospel. Although, Torres wanted to continue her college and applied for several colleges, but her financial position at home didn’t support her to attend the college. 

Career Experience

Torres won the ALMA Award in 2001 as an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama series for her role in ‘Cleopatra 2525’. She was also nominated in 2004, for the IPAGS (International Press Academy’s Golden Satellite) Award for the Best Supporting Actress category for the role as “Jasmine in Angel”. She acted in movies including “The Matrix Revolutions” and “The Matrix Reloaded”.  In 2004, she acted as a Julia Milliken in a popular show “24”, in the third season of the show she did seven episodes. In 2005, she did a role for the pilot episode of “Soccer Moms”.

In 2005, she also gave her voice for the character Vixen, an animated series “Justice League Unlimited” and replaced her voice over Niobe character in “The Matrix Online” she was replaced over Jada Pinkett Smith. 

In 2006, she worked for a Fox network and acted in a short-term drama series “Standoff” as Cheryl Carrera.  She did a role in a movie “I think I love my Wife” she was a wife of Chris Rock’s Character in the movie.  In 2009, she was also cast in CBS television show.  She gave her voice for Wonder Woman in DCUO (DC Universe Online) till mid-2013. In the same year, she was reunited with her costar Nathan Fillion of Firefly fame, in a Fillion’s show Castle, appeared for one episode.  

Personal life

Torres s got engaged with Laurence Fishburne in February 2001, and on September 22, she married her husband Fishburne. They have on daughter Delilah, and she is also a stepmom to her husband’s two children, from his first marriage. She also speaks Spanish
