Heather MacRae 

Mac Rae made her theatrical debut performing with her parents and siblings in a production of Annie Get Your Gun at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City. This early experience on stage sparked her passion for acting and performing.

Stage Career and Broadway Breakthrough

Motivated by her first stage experience, Heather Mac Rae pursued a professional acting career and eventually debuted on Broadway in the musical Here’s Where I Belong, an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel East of Eden. She portrayed the character Abra in this short-lived production.

Her Broadway credentials were further elevated when she joined the original cast of the groundbreaking musical Hair, stepping into the role of Sheila after Diane Keaton's departure. This role solidified Mac Rae’s place in the theatrical landscape of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Acclaimed Performances and Awards

In 2017, Heather Mac Rae received an Obie Award for her performance as Lola in the Transport Group’s acclaimed off-Broadway revival of Come Back, Little Sheba. The innovative production was praised for its fresh interpretation and emotional depth.

Mac Rae also appeared in another notable Transport Group production, I Remember Mama. This unique version of the beloved play featured a cast composed entirely of women over the age of 60, offering an original take on the classic story while celebrating mature female talent in theater.
