Marriage to Paul McCartney

Mills met Sir Paul McCartney in 1999 at the Pride of Britain Awards. Mills had received the Outstanding Bravery Award, while McCartney was there in memory of his late wife, Linda McCartney. The two reportedly bonded over their shared interest in charitable causes, and McCartney later donated £150,000 to a landmine-related charity that Mills supported.

The couple were engaged during a holiday trip, where McCartney proposed with a sapphire and diamond ring bought in India. They married in 2002, four years after Linda McCartney's passing. Their daughter, Beatrice Milly McCartney, was born in 2003.

In public interviews at the time, Mills praised her relationship with McCartney, once noting that he was "very tidy" and supportive, even helping her curb her addiction to chocolate. However, their relationship deteriorated over time, and they separated in 2006. Their divorce was finalized in 2008.

Divorce Proceedings and Settlement

The divorce between Mills and McCartney attracted significant media coverage. The proceedings included complex financial negotiations and personal accusations. Mills alleged abusive behavior during their marriage, claiming that McCartney had once pushed her into a bathtub while she was pregnant, which she said led to a miscarriage. McCartney, through legal channels, denied these allegations.

Mills initially sought a settlement of £125 million. After a six-day court hearing, she was awarded a lump sum of £16.5 million, plus assets and annual child support of £35,000 to cover costs for their daughter’s education and welfare.
