Homer James Jigme Gere was born on February 2000 in California. His mother Carey Lowell was a well-known model and actress. His father, Richard Gere is a famous actor. Homer was given a long and interesting name by his parents who chose to name him after their respective fathers. They also added a Tibetan name "Jigme". When Homer was just 13 years old, his parents decided to part ways in 2013, by 2016 their divorce was finalized. The marriage lasted 11 years.

Homer is the only child of Richard Gere but he has a half-sister from a previous marriage of his mother. After his parents divorced, Homer would go on to live with his mother. In October of 2016, a Manhattan judge signed off on the divorce settlement between Gere and Lowell, an agreement that was three years in the making. Although the couple resolved their custody issues quickly and in a civil manner, the pair had a lengthy legal battle over Gere's substantial net worth.

Homer has not started a career yet but his father is a very successful actor and humanitarian activist who began his career in the 1970s. Gere got his start working at the Seattle Repertory Theatre and Provincetown Playhouse. By 1973, Gere would earn his first lead role on the stage in the musical production "Grease". Just one year later he would make his film debut in the 1974 film "The Lords of Flatbush". Gere's career gained momentum quickly and in 1977 he played a part in the film "Looking for Mr. Goodbar". In 1978, he starred in the film "Days of Heaven". Gere continued acting through the 1980s gaining popularity as time went on. He appeared in numerous films including "An Officer and a Gentleman", "The Honorary Consul", "The Cotton Club", and "American Gigolo".

Homer's father truly earned his breakthrough in 1990 after the release of two major hit motion pictures, "Internal Affairs" and "Pretty Woman". In "Pretty Woman", his co-star was a famous actress, Julia Roberts. The films would go on to become cult classics and turned Richard Gere into a household name. Ever since his roles in those two films, Gere has continued to play notable and romantic characters. Through the 1990s, Gere appeared in films such as "And the Band Played On", "Sommersby", "Rhapsody in August", "First Knight", and "Primal Fear". In 1999, he took on the role of Graham in the hit classic "Runaway Bride". After a short break from acting, Gere returned to the big screen in 2002 and appeared in the thriller "The Mothman Prophecies" as John Klein.

Homer's mother is best known for her roles as a Bond girl in "License to Kill" as well as a prosecutor on the hit TV show "Law & Order".
