Jane Curtin is an American actress and comedian known for her deadpan humor who achieved fame as being one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live. Saturday Night Live is an American late-night variety show that is recorded live; created by Lorne Michaels, the show first appeared in October of 1975 under its original title, NBC’s Saturday Night. Jane Therese Curtin was born on September 6, 1947, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Curtin graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Newton and went on to attend Elizabeth Seton Junior College and Northeastern University. Although she holds an associate degree, Curtin dropped out of Northeastern to pursue a career in comedy. Jane often played the role of the straight-woman character on Saturday Night Live; often serving as a foil to the late comedian John Belushi.

The roles were said to carry over to real life, as Jane was often appalled by the drug culture surrounding the show. Jane won two Emmy Awards for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in Kate & Allie. Jane Curtin married television producer Patrick Francis Lynch in 1975. The couple has one daughter, Tess Curtin Lynch, who was born in 1983.
