Jane Marie Lynch was born on July 14, 1960, in Evergreen Park, IL. She is not able to hear in one ear because she suffered nerve damage when she suffered a high fever when she was still an infant. As a young woman, she fell in love with acting and took steps towards her career when got a degree in theatre from Cornell University. She worked in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company for 15 years in Chicago. She was among the only two women who performed in The Second City comedy troupe. She continued to perform on stage and worked with Annoyance Theater as Carol Brady in The Real Live Brady Bunch.
