Notably, he has a scar above his left eyebrow resulting from an altercation in 2008, which has since become one of his signature features. He also wears a French-cut beard and has various tattoos, the most prominent being a traditional Hawaiian tattoo on his left forearm representing his family god or “aumakua.”

Momoa has had several high-profile relationships. From 2004 to 2006, he was engaged to Australian actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon. He later entered a relationship with actress Lisa Bonet, and the couple legally married in 2017, despite reports suggesting a 2007 wedding. They have two children together, a daughter and a son. Early Education and Artistic Interests

Momoa initially pursued studies in marine biology and wildlife biology, demonstrating an early fascination with environmental science. However, he did not complete his degree, returning instead to Hawaii to be closer to his family. Modeling Breakthrough and Screen Debut

Jason Momoa’s entrance into the entertainment world began through modeling. He was discovered by international designer Takeo Kobayashi and subsequently won Hawaii’s Model of the Year title in 1999. That same year, he hosted the Miss Teen Hawaii pageant, quickly establishing a strong local presence in Hawaii’s modeling circuit.

His modeling career helped launch his acting journey when, at age 19, he landed a role on the television series Baywatch Hawaii. He later appeared in series such as North Shore (2004–2005) and Stargate Atlantis (2005–2009), where he gained recognition for his role as Ronon Dex. He also made his film debut in Johnson Family Vacation (2004). A notable physical feature during his Stargate years was his long, thick dreadlocks, which became closely associated with his character—even after being advised to cut them due to their weight.
