Early Years

She attained her BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Her family lived a finicky life even though they could afford things that they wanted. She had two brothers, and she worked to earn her expenses. She stated in her biography that her grandparents kept a watch on her during school times so that she wouldn't be carried away the extravagant students.

She always had her interest in journalism and writing. On completing graduation, she got two offers simultaneously. One was the job that she had wished for, as the assistant for New Woman Magazine which offered a salary of $12,000 yearly. The payment was twice as a management trainee at a store, and she took up the job for the reason of the high payment. Within three months, Jean realized that the management job was not her piece of pie and slowly quit her job.

Career

Her first journalism job was as an editorial assistant which paid less. But after her experience with the department shop, she was thrilled to get a job in her field of interest. She had to pay her apartment rents and therefore took classes in SAT's alongside to meet the budget. She learned the importance of having sound finance, but yet her love for journalism made her keep hold. She did the job of business reports for Working Woman magazine. She got her inspiration to earn more and the value of good pay. She was ready to leave her job at Working Woman, and her aim then was to enter a top notch business report magazine like Fortune or Forbes. She was then rejected from Forbes interview and was asked to take up an MBA.

She then calculated that an MBA would cost $40,000 a year, and the earnings would be only half even after the masters. So she dropped the idea of MBA and pursued with freelancing for a while and aspired for a job on Wall Street. She entered into a job as an assistant to the analysts to help in report creation. With this experience, she got a job in Forbes.

She earned a good name with her hard-working nature getting down people's stories. Later she decided that she had her inspiring stories to present to the world and took up the job in SmartMoney. From there she was tapped into the turning point in her life, NBC's Today Show.

Popularity

She was then called in for interviews and opinions. She released seven books from 2001 to 2012. Her articles for magazines were widely accepted, and the Chicago Tribune put her name on the list of the 30 best columnists in 2003. She is one of the most attractive financial journalists and is loved for her slender leg and curves with a height of 5 feet 7 inches.

Personal Life

Eliot Kaplan is her husband, and they have bene married since 2000. She is extremely satisfied with her family life, and there is no question of divorce. The couple is blessed with two children. She has balanced her personal and professional life.
