In March of 2007, Harper Collins announced its plans to publish the book and on 28th September of the same year it was released, with an initial print run of 500,000 copies, certainly eclipsing Jenna’s, and everyone else’s, initial expectations on the official launch and first phase sell in of the book. Jenna’s share of the profits went to UNICEF, a charity which has always remained close to her heart, and the rest was given to the young girl whose life story was the inspiration for the book. The money was given with the intention to further her education and break the cycle of poverty and abuse.
Jenna Welch Bush, first daughter and her mother, Laura Bush, co-authored a book in 2008 titled Read All about It!, a classroom adventure targeting young children in the hope of encouraging them to read.
Family Life
In 2004, during her father’s presidential campaign, Jenna Bush met the man who would become her husband, Henry Chase Hager (born May 9th, 1978). Their relationship was made public in 2005 when the couple appeared at a White House dinner for The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. After a dating for almost three years, the two got engaged in August 2007, only once Henry Hager had asked the permission of George W. Bush.
With regards to Henry Hager he attended St. Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated with an MBA from Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. He is one of two sons of John H. Hager, the former Virginia Republican Party Chairman who served as the U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary under George W. Bush.
The couple’s wedding took place during a private ceremony on May 10, 2008, at Jenna’s parents’ Prairie Chapel Ranch near Crawford, Texas. On the day Henry’s brother, John, stood as Best Man and Barbara, Jenna’s twin sister, was the maid of honor.
