On 12 December 2012, Jenna and Henry Hager announced on The Today Show that they were expecting their first child and in 2013 Jenna gave birth to Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager in April and in August 2015 their second daughter was born. She is named Poppy Louise Hager, with “Poppy” being President George W. Bush’s childhood nickname and Louise being the middle name of Jenna’s grandmother, on her mother’s side.

Today Jenna Welch Bush Hager is a successful businesswoman in her own right with a career in writing and journalism.The two-time New York Times bestselling author was hired in 2009 as an NBC news correspondent for the morning TV show Today, and on a monthly basis, she contributes stories around current issues including education. She also assists with NBC News’ Education segments across the various platforms, fills in as co-anchor and "Orange Room anchor" on Today and is a contributor and a substitute anchor on NBC Nightly News. She also sits on the board of the Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF), a non-profit organization that celebrates the visual arts.
In 2012 Jenna Bush Hager was appointed as editor-at-large of Southern Living magazine and she works with SEED Public Charter School of Baltimore in Maryland. To date, UNICEF is still close to her heart and she continues to serve as the Young Leadership Ambassador and Chair for UNICEF’s Next Generation Committee, an initiative dedicated to reducing the number of preventable deaths of children around the world.
