Jermaine Dupri Mauldin was born on September 23, 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina but was raised in Atlanta. Dupri was born as the child of Tina Mosley and Michael Mauldin. His father worked as a Columbia Records executive.
Dupri's promising music career started before he was even ten years of age. His father facilitated a Diana Ross concert in 1982. To the pleasure and amusement of the show goers, Dupri figured out how to jump in front of an audience and move alongside Ross as they danced for the audience.
