During his college years, Jim continued his successful story as a multi-sport athlete just like he did in high school. He was the second leading scorer for his basketball team. He was inducted to the college hall of fame for his contributions to their sports programs.

NFL career

Jim Brown was selected in the first round of the 1957 National Football League Draft by the Cleveland Browns. In only a short span of 9 years, Brown set the record for most career rushing, total touchdowns, all-purpose yards and rushing touchdowns. He was the first player ever to gain 100 rushing touchdowns in NFL history. During his career, Jim Brown’s team won the NFL championship in 1964 and were close to winning in 1957 and 1965. Jim Brown ran for 1,863 rushing in the 1963 season, a record that remains as a franchise record for the Cleveland Browns.

Jim Brown’s amazing career is what every American football player dreams of. After playing for nine great seasons, brown announced his shocking retirement in July 1966. At the time he was only 30 years old and considered to still be in his athletic prime.

Acting career

After announcing his retirement from the football world, Brown embarked on a journey to pursue his acting career. Many expected that he would eventually return to the game of football but Brown kept his word in retirement. He never played football again but he went on to star in more than 30 movies.

Personal life

Even though Jim Brown has had good fortune in his football and acting careers, his personal life is tainted with accusations of assault. In 1968, Jim was accused of throwing his girlfriend from a second story balcony. He was convicted for smashing his wife’s car in 1999. He was sentenced to six months in jail for not attending counselling in 2002. Unfortunately Jim never seemed to learn his lesson throughout the years. The reported acts of violence were several years apart meaning Jim never managed to get his anger under control.

Jim married his first wife Sue Jones in 1958. The couple have three children Kim, Kevin and James Jr. They divorced in 1972. Jim also had children from other marriages including Shellee from Brenda Ayres, Kimberly from Kim Jones and Karen Brown Ward.

In 1988, Jim Brown started Amer-I-Can Program to help young gang members to achieve safe and better future.

Jim brown has an estimated net worth of $50 million. He earned most of his net worth from his acting career because his football career came at a time when the money wasn’t as high as it is in the modern era.
