Attack on Terra Newell and Death

In August 2016, Meehan attempted to kidnap Terra Newell, the daughter of his then-current wife, Debra Newell, in a parking lot in Newport Beach, California. He was found carrying a "kidnap kit" that included duct tape and knives when he ambushed her. However, Terra fought back during the attack and stabbed Meehan multiple times in self-defense. He succumbed to his injuries days later at the hospital at age 57.
